Lambay Island
Lambay means “Lamb island”, the “ay” being a Danish word for an island. Other versions of the word are “ey” as in Dalkey (Dalk Island) and “eye” as in Ireland’s Eye (Ireland’s Island ). It is incorrect to say Lambay Island.
